The Challenge

Nepali communities across the United States often depend on fragmented communication channels. Local events, business listings, news updates, buy-and-sell posts, and community discussions are spread across multiple social platforms, making information hard to find and difficult to manage. Businesses also lack a focused digital space to reach Nepali audiences in their local area. The main challenge was to create a centralized platform that could support community interaction, local discovery, and content sharing while remaining simple enough for everyday users.

Our Approach

ElanceOne focused on building a practical mobile app designed around real community behavior. The goal was not to replace social media, but to create a dedicated community hub where users could discover relevant information faster. The platform was structured around core community needs such as forums, business directories, events, news, marketplace listings, messaging, and user profiles. The app was also designed with location-based filtering, allowing users to browse content by state and community interest. Admin moderation features were included to help maintain content quality and reduce spam.

The Solution

ElanceOne developed MeroNEP using a scalable mobile app architecture with React Native, AWS Amplify, DynamoDB, and AppSync. The platform includes community forums, threaded discussions, direct messaging, business directory listings, news updates, event listings, marketplace posts, notifications, user profiles, and admin moderation tools. Users can explore community updates, post discussions, connect with others, find Nepali businesses, list items for sale, and stay informed about local events. The business directory gives Nepali-owned businesses a dedicated space to be discovered by the right audience.

MeroNEP created a centralized digital space for Nepali communities to connect, share, and discover local information. The app improved access to community updates by reducing dependence on scattered social media posts and informal communication.
